With lush pastures, rolling hills, pine and redwood forests and picturesque coastline, there’s much to explore at the Lost Coast Estate – but also plenty to experience if you want to venture a little further afield.
On the property itself you can investigate one of our many beautiful hiking trails, enjoy a morning run through the stunning forest, or wander on the beach kicking through the surf.
Have a quite stroll through gentle sloped pastures, or bring your mountain bike (we’ve gotten rave reviews on our trails) and work up a sweat mountain biking. Guests can also walk across to our outbuildings and stables and visit our farm animals which include cattle, our mighty guard donkey, sheep and when in season, our lambs.
We also offer guided tours. For those who prefer more sedate pastimes, there’s nothing finer than time spent relaxing on our panoramic deck with a morning coffee or catching a spectacular sunset pre dinner aperitif.
Nearby, just a short drive away, is the pretty town of Ferndale which dates back to the 1850’s and is home to many distinctive Victorian properties. Visitors can enjoy local shopping or a gentle walk, taking photos of the unique architecture.
Nature lovers can explore any number of our wonderful forests and trails; spend a couple of hours bird-watching in the Redwood Parks, or experience kayak fly fishing in one of the coast’s sheltered coves.
